One of the cool things I love about mobile technology is its ability to enable easy access of files and documents that are on my desktop, right on my mobile device. Whether its files I want moved to my desktop from my smartphone or tablet, or files I want to access from my desktop, the apps in the Play Store simplifies my needs. In this post, I’ll review a cool app AirDroid that lets me transfer stuff wirelessly to my computer from my Android device without needing to install third party apps on my computer.
AirDroid has several cool features. It lets you transfer files between your computer and your Android device, move apps between the multiple virtual desktops, view videos captured on your mobile device on your desktop, and record screencasts. You can install, uninstall, search and backup apps, share text via the clipboard, upload or download wallpapers and set wallpapers or slide shows.
Airdroid supports drag and drop actions, options to cut, copy, paste, delete, rename and search for stuff on your SD card too! You can also send and receive SMS notifications, batch process apps, organize your contacts, set ringtones, play music and video files, and more. Each time you connect devices, you will receive a dynamic passcode to login. If you don’t like to use dynamic codes, you can customize AirDroid settings to predefine your password too!
How AirDroid Works
Once you download and install AirDroid, you need to click the Next button to start the connection process. There will be two web addresses and a passcode/QR code displayed on the next screen.
Head over to your computer(NOTE: You will need to connect both your devices from the same WIFI connection for this to work.), navigate to one of the two web addresses shown on your phone, then enter the passcode .
You will be taken to a dashboard displaying your devices files. You can then choose the actions you want to perform using the icons on the dashboard.
AirDroid is absolutely free, and is a great way to move music and video files instantly across devices. The upload and download speeds are pretty awesome, and it’s a great way to move heavy files quickly.
