"The popular Couch to 5K app helps new runners avoid injury from doing too much, too soon."
—Runners World, June 2012

"It's ridiculously easy to use (it's hard not to, as you just do what you're told) and it's fantastic that you have an encouraging voice talking you through things."
—Engadget, June 2012

"’s Couch to 5K is one of my favorite… apps. With its customizable features, interactivity, and well-rounded interface, I may actually stay off the couch this time."
—148Apps, October 2011

"I knew as soon as I decided to start the Couch to 5K program that I would need something to keep me accountable—not just to showing up for my training, but to actually doing it properly. Of course there’s an app for that."
—CalorieLab, April 2012

"If you have been struggling to get your buns off the couch and somewhat in shape before the summer hits, training for a 5K is not a bad way to start. If you are looking for a program to help get you there, then the “Couch to 5K” running plan by CoolRunning is probably your best bet if you haven’t done an ounce of athletic activity for a number of years."
—Droid Life, April 2012

hard work for a middle aged couch potato But hopefully it will pay off. Each day I'm actually running a little more and I haven't dropped dead on the treadmill yet :-) love that you can actually build and use your own playlists.

  • May 11, 2015

Great program, GPS FAIL!! Loving the program so far. 3 weeks ago I would have told you that I hate running, and yet my best distance is already 4.5k and I'm really seeing it happen. However, on my last run it showed me mysteriously teleporting through about 1/3 of the route! Unreliable GPS really makes this such a bummer, especially when improving my distance has been such a crucial motivating factor.

  • May 4, 2015

Couch to 5k I hate running but want to say I did a 5k. This app is helping me. Easy tutorial as you go. Nice cues when to run and walk and the halfway point.

  • May 14, 2015

Great App This is a great App that is slowly building my running up. There have been occasional glitches but nithing that stops me from using it. Big thumbs up!

  • May 10, 2015

Works for me, but can't integrate music I just started using the program last week and I love it. It really is easier for me when "someone" tells me when to run and when to walk. My BIGGEST complaint, and it is quite annoying, is that I am unable to add my running Playlist to the app. So when I start the workouts, I have to run Couch to 5k as well as my phone's music app in order to listen, and it seems like a battery waster when the 5K app says I can add music. Please fix this!

  • May 13, 2015

Nice! I don't know why there are so many complains about GPS, i don't have this problem. Good job guys, keep it simple!

  • May 4, 2015

Not bad, few rough edges Works OK, wish it could be set to automatically start music with the workout, a lot of fiddling otherwise . Also, all the voices are a bit too American, some variety would be nice.

  • May 10, 2015

Did the trick If this worked for me it will work for anyone. Follow the plan, dont do any more or less...and you will be able to jog 5k. I could not recommend this enough!

  • May 5, 2015

Excellent app for runners This app encourages me to run again. The features in the paid app make it more than worth the $2 cost and its a much better running companion than the free version. Highly recommended.

  • May 10, 2015

Love it I went from couch to 5k just like the app says. Works beautifully, i dont use the embedded music player because i use spotify so i can't comment on that. Menus are slick and responsive. Great app.

  • May 11, 2015

This app is GREAT! Works well with Spotify. The narrative isn't annoying and the prompts it shows on screen are useful.

  • May 2, 2015

Workour I ran a 5k after the training and loved the experience so much I ran 2 more shortly after that one.

  • May 12, 2015

My go to app This has been the best trainer. I am not a great running and I will over do it and then quit. Couch to 5k keeps it simple and addictive. Love the zombie coach!

  • May 8, 2015

Can you adjust the length of time? Anyone know if there is a way to shorten the 9 weeks to like 4? Or should I just fast forward through the first 5 since I have been walking jogging for a month....Thx :-) keep up the good work runners!

  • May 11, 2015

Excellent. You should team up with Audible so I can access my audiobooks in app!

  • May 2, 2015

This program works! When I first started using this I could barely run for the 1st minute. Now I'm running half marathons just barely a year later. I have also lost 50lbs! If Active would just make a marathon trainer...hint hint...

  • May 9, 2015

Great! Just wish I could get my fat a** through it. LoL

  • April 30, 2015

Perfect This app has really given me a new life and really has helped me achieve my goals much easier with a walkthrough. for anyone looking to get back into shape and has sat on the couch for years and years and was not active, this is the app for you. It's hard but it's not impossible and with a little bit of motivation and support from friends and family you will be able to do it.

  • May 14, 2015

Feeling the change I use to absolutely hate running for exercise (usually only ran when playing a pickup game of basketball or football and ended up telling myself I need to get in shape) but I just completed the second week and can definitely feel the difference. Everyday I wake up at 4am actually WANTING to run and don't find myself forcing myself to put on my shoes to go outside. This app is awesome and definitely changed my views on running forever :)

  • May 12, 2015

Relatively solid app. App is pretty solid, loses distance on GPS occasionally when I do laps. LOVE lock screen feature- it allows me to focus on my run, not my social stuff!

  • May 7, 2015

Exactly what I needed I have exercise-induced asthma, and this app is changing how I approach running. I'm so glad I can be a runner!

  • May 5, 2015

Love it! This is a great app for moving my lazy self. My only concern is my buddy option never works right. It always tells me it can't connect to server and kicks my buddies off all the time.

  • May 12, 2015

Great Motivator! App runs smoothly...the choice of characters is pretty cool...the progression of the jog is at a tough but attainable pace.

  • May 13, 2015

This app helped me to love running! And I used to HATE it. But I look foward to it now! Worth the buy!

  • May 13, 2015

Great 5k app Love it. Enjoy it. Awesome

  • May 4, 2015

Love this app I've started running recently to be prepared to join the military, and this app is helping me tremendously.

  • May 11, 2015

Great Well worth the money! Almost as good as having a trainer! I didn't think I could do it, but I did, and I lost 8lbs in a week!

  • May 8, 2015

Great program, but the GPS is pretty bad. I have to restart the location while running. Which can be a little ridiculous

  • April 30, 2015

Helping me with motivation, but why do you need my contacts? Nice app, but bad move IMO.

  • April 30, 2015

Begginer If it wasn't for this app I would have never lasted on my journey to a 5k!

  • May 11, 2015

Great app Helps a lot when starting out i feel.

  • May 10, 2015

Very nice Super easy to use. Just finished week 1. Looking forward to seeing how I do with week 2.

  • May 11, 2015

Wonderful Working so well for a non runner like myself. Hardest part for me is getting out the door. Once i do the app takes me through the rest

  • May 8, 2015

Love this app I absolutely love this app. I use it every day except Sunday. Try it, you will love it also.

  • May 1, 2015

Awesome This app is so easy and makes turning into a runner easy!

  • May 1, 2015

My second Time Around I love the app but would like to have the ability to repeat without losing data.

  • May 8, 2015

Takes the scariness away from starting Takes you by the hand to your goal so no fear of over doing it and injuring yourself.

  • May 11, 2015

I couldn't complete day 1. It was too difficult!

  • May 11, 2015

Great and helpful! Thanks to this app I did my 5k, even though I was not a runner at all. Because of irregular workouts it took about 6 months for me to make 5k. During the first 3-4 weeks it was painful for my knees, so I had to make some pause in trainings. After that everything went fine and I keep running.

  • Oct. 6, 2013

Lovin it Its so comforting to know that when your jogging till you just can't go on.. but there's going to be an end to it.. the voice in your ears is going to say 'good job'! Its like your personal trainer in your pocket!

  • June 9, 2015

Server down Running my first 5k at 45 with my daughter, but I can't connect with her! Saying server is down, what's up?!

  • June 4, 2015

Great App I really like the app and would definitely recommend it to anyone who's trying to get off the couch. I'm doing it with a co-worker but every time I try to connect with a buddy it tells me server is down.

  • June 7, 2015

Couch to 5k = amazing I hate running! Always have always will but this app makes it bearable. I'm now running 3 miles daily consistently thanks to this app. I am definitely getting the 10k one after this. Go me!

  • June 9, 2015

Buddies I hate that we can't connect to server to share with our friends. My friend and I bought it to encourage each other and it doesn't work. I feel like getting a refund it's frustrating!

  • June 11, 2015

Great app, needs improvement Great app. The voices are very good for keeping you motivated and the gradual increases in jogging stretches really helps build cardio. Could do with a log of how fast you went throughout the run, so you can see where you're slowing down. Also, when you end the workout but are still walking home, it'd be nice if it tracked that as well.

  • June 13, 2015

Too easy to miss prompts My complaint is that the prompts are easy to miss. The Drill Sgt. has the loudest voice, but even that just isn't enough if you've got it in an athletic case around your arm (i can't run with headphones). There is a vibrate pulse but it only pulses once and is easy to miss. There is no pulse option for the halfway point either, only audio. I'd like to see the app give full control to users over which events get vibrate pulses and an ability to set a user defined number of pulses for said events.

  • May 28, 2015

Great program, GPS FAIL!! Loving the program so far. 3 weeks ago I would have told you that I hate running, and yet my best distance is already 4.5k and I'm really seeing it happen. However, on my last run it showed me mysteriously teleporting through about 1/3 of the route! Unreliable GPS really makes this such a bummer, especially when improving my distance has been such a crucial motivating factor. **edited to add** It seems the GPS fail may be a factor of using the Settings (change coach voice, etc) during the route.

  • May 18, 2015

GPS fail - very disheartening !!! Great app to follow , the workouts are manageable but the GPS fails or records that iv run a zig zag so cover about 10 k when iv clearly run about 4k !! Real shame as it could be fab please fix it !!!!!! I change it 5 * then

  • June 4, 2015

I HATE RUNNING! But, this app is really helpful, encouraging and motivating. If I must run, at least I have this app to help.

  • May 21, 2015

Please fix the GPS issue This would be my favorite C25K app if the GPS would stay on for the entire workout. Fix and it would be 5 stars.

  • May 22, 2015

Very helpful Don't understand the complaints about the gps or playing music. For me they both work just fine. About the app - I love it. I'm quite lazy when it comes to sports and it was not easy to keep a strict routine at first, but now I am actually eagerly waiting for my running days. The app supports you, even cheers discretely and generally is there by your side exactly as much as needed. Perfect for the couch potato I used to be ?

  • June 6, 2015

Could be better Would like to have my other music programs sync in with it. And a calorie burn would be a great feature that the free ones have. But I already paid so now I am suckered out of $2. Should have gotten the free one.

  • May 17, 2015

Since I have always hated running but want to at least be able to run a 5k, this has been a great app. My complaint is that it crashes at when I get to the 5 minute cool down. It might be because I am using Strava and Spotify at the same time. Spotify also crashes and Strava will stop recording as well. I am using a Moto X 2nd Generation. I got this phone so that this stuff wouldn't happen. I just use the app as a coach so all I need is someone to tell me when to run and when to walk. For me this is perfect and it is free which I love.

  • June 7, 2015

Works well It does what is supposed to do I guess. App is pretty rough around the edges. GPS doesn't always sync up. I'd love if it integrated into other fitness apps like Jawbone, etc.

  • June 5, 2015

The training plan that this app delivers is solid- it's a nice gentle buildup that can turn the most ardent couch potato into a runner. That's the good. The bad: The server back-end is very unreliable. The app's own syncing is also very buggy- it doesn't ever upload/download your data unless you log out and back in again. There's no way to set a pre-workout countdown (a la Endomondo). This is really important if you're running with a phone, as you need to hit "start" and then zip it away safely- you always end up missing part of your warmup. It would also be useful if there was an option to automatically start music with the workout, a minor oversight, but an obvious omission. If you can put up with these niggles, and follow the training plan (as well as eat/sleep/stretch as you should), you will start feeling fantastic, and find that you can actually run! Automating a decent training plan like this is easily worth the asking price, despite the slightly basic app.

  • June 21, 2015

GPS Fail I love the way this app got me started gradually with the walk/run, but I am frustrated that my workouts are not logging properly. I just finished W2D3. During w1 I did my workouts on the track at the gym. No distance logged at all. I decided to do my workouts around my subdivision. W2D1, 1.79 miles, W2D2, 2.12 miles, W2D3, .79 miles. I ran faster today than i did the previous two days this week. I can't understand why my workout wasn't properly logged today, same workout as b4.

  • June 4, 2015

Good app I like how this app slowly builds you up to a 5k. You can redo workouts if you don't feel like you are ready to move to the next level. It randomly tells me that it can't connect to the servers when I try to add buddies. I figured out that if I go to settings, uncheck Sync, the enable it again, it starts working again. When I try to add buddies through Facebook, I just see a blank screen. I know I have friends from Facebook that use the app. I can see everyone when adding through contacts, just not FB

  • May 20, 2015

It works! I never ran or worked out harder than walking. I'm just over halfway through the program and running a 5k actually seems do able! Strangely enough, I'm starting to like it.

  • May 31, 2015

Would fix a couple things. I use a treadmill so the GPS to track distance and pace is inaccurate. Also, I like to stretch afterward and hate that the built in music player shuts off as soon as you hit continue. I think it should play until you shut it off. I can always use my exterior music player but then I'm running multiple apps and I don't want to do that.

  • May 17, 2015

Broken Audio cues to walk & jog will fail to fire at random points in each workout. I'm uninstalling and have asked for a refund. Social features and GPS tracking are all well and good, but those audio cues are the app's only real job, and if you can't trust the app to lead you through the workout there's no reason to drop $2 on it.

  • June 5, 2015

Jude the Nube I'm 43 & my 19 yr old son put a bug in my ear that he envisions me running. Today is my 1st day. I like this app better than others. I got runner's knee cause I only do stretching. I didn't know I should've been doing certain exercises to prepare for running. I wish your app offered a list of exercises for runners. You can't get off the couch to run if you've never ran before. There's a whole lot to learn before about your own body this app won't tell you.

  • June 21, 2015

Great for starters I was 305 and now I am 275 and running the 3 days a week and working out and went from a size 24+ to a 18-20 n 5 weeks

  • June 2, 2015

Love the app but day 3 and I just did a run and the last about 2.5 mins my gps didn't track me at all and it was a perfectly clear night :(

  • June 11, 2015

Never a runner Great to get you out even if its only for 20 mins .. but you will push yourself every time you do it..

  • May 29, 2015

Really like the app for the running plan, but all of the server features are broken. At first it couldn't contact the server, then I found out the hard way that it never synced any of my workout data as it was supposed to and it lost all of it. Really unhappy about that, but I'll keep using the app and just never trust it again.

  • June 7, 2015

Couch to 5k Hard work if you've never exercised in your life but totally worth it, can't believe how every run is that little bit better :)

  • May 31, 2015

Amazing I have never paid for an app before but this is just what I was looking for and needed to get my butt moving

  • May 27, 2015

Fantastic app! Just completed my first week of couch to 5k and am thoroughly enjoying running which I was surprised with! I love the personal trainer giving you instructions of what to do and when through my ear phones and the fact that you can listen to your music at the same time! I'm addiment to get fit and lose weight and I think the couch to 5k will help me achieve this and more!

  • June 18, 2015

Idea Please give us the option to make custom workouts - i would like sometimes to train to a certain rythm with this app but I have to keep skipping or going back between jogging and walking.

  • Feb. 15, 2016

The App That Will Get You To Yout Goal This app is great. I didn't think I could manage getting ready for a 5K, but this app has well planned workouts to get you race ready. I love it.

  • Jan. 4, 2016

it really works I am 270 pounds and thought that I would never be able to run more then ten minutes at a time. with this app I have not only been able to run longer. I am also in better shape then all my smaller friends. it gives me hope to be able to cross something off my bucket list. completing a marathon eventually.

  • Feb. 21, 2016

It's OK Good, but price discrimination (more expensive for Europeans than for Americans - $1.99 < €2.20) and dev charges more than the advertised price (€2.14 advertised, €2.20 charged). Update 1: dev justifies €2.20 with "tax", practically confirming €2.14 is nothing more than random unjustified discrimination. Update 2: dev seems unfamiliar with Android, claims it requires they request permissions upfront when that hasn't been true since Lollipop was released ~15 (!) months ago.

  • Feb. 19, 2016

Great for Amateurs & Beginner Runners I hate working out but this app has been great so far! I just completed my first week and I love the easy transitions from walking to jogging. I am not a runner either so this has been a great way to help get me back into shape!

  • Jan. 26, 2016

I HATE RUNNING!!! So I've never been a fan of running and whenever I did attempt it, I ended up hurting myself because I did too much too soon. This app paces you and builds you up with a progressive workout that is totally doable. Highly recommend this app! 3 weeks in and I love it!

  • Jan. 5, 2016

BB Love the app!! Very easy to follow and even better is it's very easy to do!! I've never done running in my life before. But this app has made it very easy and simple for me to start!! Even the laziest of couch potatoes can do it!! ;)

  • Jan. 31, 2016

It's working! Im taking it a bit slower then the app suggests. Normally repeating the last run of the week one more time before starting the new weeks routine. I am very happy I can repeat and it logs it all. The different trainers are a nice gimmick. Built in music player is great. I just put on the earphones, start it up and go. Im not looking at my phone or watch or anything. Just following the prompts to jog or walk, working on my breathing and listening to my tunes.

  • Jan. 29, 2016

GPS doesn't work since Aug 9th update UPDATE: They fixed the GPS and it is great again. As you see all the other reviews saying, it hasn't worked since August 9th. I really enjoy tracking my average pace during running but can't track anything at all now. It gives a long straight line where it loses the GPS. I am still using the app for the run/walk training, but I have to track the total distance with my car after the run. I've emailed customer support but it is still broke. Once fixed I'll update my review to 5 stars.

  • Jan. 21, 2016

Hopeful Just bought hope it is as good as it sounds will change my star rating once I am into it.

  • Jan. 31, 2016

Used to Work I loved this app, it was going great and I was on week 3. After an update the workouts no longer work, it just says 'get ready' perpetually. In addition, it has been a month since I contacted support and nothing has been done after they said it was 'being worked on' and handed over to the development team. I'm really disappointed and feel cheated.

  • Jan. 10, 2016

Couch to 5k An aid to get you off the couch and low impact progress to complete a 5k event....or just become more physically active.

  • Feb. 11, 2016

Meh GPS, All Else Great The GPS is really not good for indoor tracks which are needed when it's single digits outside, but otherwise the app is amazing for a virtual trainer

  • Jan. 14, 2016

Love it Great app! Easier to train for 5K using this app than without it. I wish it would announce when I'm half way through the jogging/fast walking & some encouragement towards the end of jogging would be great too.

  • Jan. 30, 2016

So far so good I can't find anyone to run with, so an app telling me what to do will suffice.

  • Jan. 14, 2016

For someone who hated running This is a great program. Every week, the challenge is a little harder but not out of reach especially if you repeat each week before moving on!

  • Jan. 31, 2016

Wish the voice said walk/run FOR X MINUTES instead of just walk/run. Otherwise I love it!

  • Jan. 4, 2016

It is working! I'm motivated to keep improving. I look forward to my next training session. I've been impressed with how easy it has been. At least week 1 was... Lol. Now if only the weather will cooperate!

  • Feb. 9, 2016

Wrong running pace I love this app ☺ I just can't understand how it counts the running pace, for my last run it says 3:15 min/km - impossible to run that fast and during my run the app was showing the pace cca 6:00-6:30, how come 3:15?!

  • Feb. 20, 2016

Great app Works really well and is well organised. It really does get easier as you go further in the program, proof it works!

  • Jan. 2, 2016

Wonderful idea well executed. The interface is a bit clunky, but it does what it needs to do well.

  • Feb. 18, 2016

Ten-hut Brilliant app, gets you to the 5k then you can frollow with the 10k version

  • Feb. 2, 2016

AMAZING! I am a beginner and this is a very great app to help you get your stride! Love it and would recommend this to others!

  • Feb. 10, 2016

Great app for beginners or for those of us just needing to get back in shape!

  • Jan. 9, 2016

Great app. Takes the guess work out of internal training. Easy to use.

  • Feb. 12, 2016

Great app Would give it 5 stars if it counted down to jog/run sections.

  • Jan. 17, 2016

New runner Love the app love the combo walk, run, etc and the cool down. Making progress.

  • Feb. 12, 2016

SOLVED! "Time remaining" problem Everything was fine the second workout after prompt email assistance, so I'm upping my rating!

  • Feb. 10, 2016

Couch to 5k I hate running but want to say I did a 5k. This app is helping me. Easy tutorial as you go. Nice cues when to run and walk and the halfway point. I like that when you derail yourself and have to start over it is as simple as pressing back arrows and you can keep repeating a cycle until you are ready to move on.

  • Jan. 27, 2016

Great app, simple to use for a new runner like myself, doesn't have a ridiculous amount of stats and charts/graphs like some other apps. Does it have Android Wear support? I'm thinking about getting a smartwatch and would love to use this app with it.

  • Jan. 16, 2016

Playlist let's it down An absolute gem of an app, real easy to get into even for the most unfit of people (me!) Loses one star as my phone contains 1000s of tracks yet there are only 11 I can add to the in app playlist. A real shame.

  • Jan. 14, 2016

Easy interface, good paced jogs Wish could sync to MyFitnessPal. I mostly use with treadmill so good I can edit distance easily.

  • Jan. 20, 2016

Helps with my running Starts off slow and easy and really helps out

  • Feb. 20, 2016

Working well On our third week and enjoying this app.

  • Jan. 23, 2016

I love it! GPS won't work though ?

  • Feb. 4, 2016

Easy to follow steps. Incorporates music and GPS to keep you going.

  • Dec. 31, 2015

Only exercise plan I stuck with longer than 2 months. I lost 20 lbs in a year because of this app...thank you!

  • Jan. 17, 2016

Hated to run But now I don't. Super easy to get started and follow. I love that it will play my music.

  • Jan. 12, 2016

Really great! I didn't feel like I was going to die at the beginning of the program like I did in some others.

  • Jan. 11, 2016

Gr8 app! It makes things easier to build up to running a 5k.

  • Feb. 2, 2016

Previous versions had big GPS issues Current works great with one minor exception. Tracking stops once prescribed workout finishes, but no credit if you do a little extra (say, distance to home). Still, a great app.

  • March 6, 2016

Love it This is a great app. I've had it for almost half a year and I haven't had any problems with it. I like the personalized trainers. My favorite is the zombie :-)

Jog on kitty An excellent aid to building up fitness at a reasonable rate. As a guy getting rather too close to 50, I found this worked well for me.

  • March 5, 2016

I love it But... I love this app. I've used it for a couple of years because I always fall off from my running routines and I love using as a way to get my distance back. But here recently I have come to realize that it isn't tracking my distance correctly. I don't know if the GPS is off or what but the GPS is turned on on my phone and it still isn't tracking part if my runs. And it drives me crazy not knowing if I've honestly made progress or not.

  • Feb. 24, 2016

Great app....unless your phone randomly decides to restart half way through. Then you lose your session.

  • March 1, 2016

Great app Don't know how I would've started without it.

  • Feb. 21, 2016

Amazing This app really works! If i can do it anyone can!

  • March 2, 2016

Bad update. Now requires registration. Can't even access your old data without

  • May 5, 2016

Sign in required Cant even run the app now without registration. Very bad!

  • May 5, 2016

It works! Easy to follow and has me running! Brilliant!

  • May 5, 2016

Great App Simple to use and keeps me going. I would buy it again. Able to play Pandora and use app at the same time.

  • May 4, 2016

GPS not tracking I like the pace of the app, but the GPS doesn't track right and it's a little discouraging because I can't see my improvement in distance.

  • April 2, 2016

I'm way less couch potato! Just the place and encouragement I needed. I hate running, but want to try to love it! This app just might get me there. So far, so good.

  • March 30, 2016

You can do this! Not a runner; strongly dislike it. But I play roller derby and it's good for endurance. This moves slow and is doable even if you haven't done anything active in ages. If you get overwhelmed, you can repeat earlier weeks. It's pretty awesome.

  • April 18, 2016

Really good for those who hate running I'm not going to lie, I despise running. But I'm trying to get in shape and start running more and this app has been fantastic! I love that it tells you when you're halfway through so if you need to you can turn around. All in all I've had no problems with it and it helps get my butt moving

  • March 23, 2016

I have just started running at the age 68 working toward my first 5k and this app is making the training so easy. I love it.

  • March 25, 2016

Fitter than I have ever been I love this app. When I first started using it, I would struggle to jog for 2 minutes. Now I am able to jog for 10 minutes straight and I continue improving every week. It would be even better if it had approximate calories burned and if it kept tracking until you stopped entirely, (until you got all the way back home, for instance).

  • March 26, 2016

Love this app I used to have problems with the GPS, but it works fine now. This is a great app to start running, however I feel some of the jumps week to week get a bit long. Maybe it's just me and my crappy asthmatic lungs, but I need the walking breaks for more weeks.

  • April 25, 2016

All love for app, so so GPS (Revised) GPS Fixed! Boots! Previous review: I did Couch to 5k for the first time about 4 years ago and I used little post-it notes to keep track of my days week after week. Then got this apps now that I am getting back to running and the easiest thing on earth. I am so glad to have this app and I don't know what happened to the g_p_s. It used to work before but maybe since the last update things got a bit bad. Regardless, best app I have ever spent money on. Please fix the GPS! ?

  • March 11, 2016

With this app I've been able to jog 20 minutes straight. Inactive my whole life, never did I think that I would be a social runner. Couch to 5k made it possible.

  • March 26, 2016

I knew I needed to do exercise, but was not able to maintain it or motivate myself. This App was just what I needed. It is easy to use and logs your progress. The gentle start of walking mixed with running is great to begin with. I've actually surprised myself at how much I've achieved.

  • April 16, 2016

Great way to start running I sort of hate running, but I've decided to challenge myself and do some 5ks this summer. This is the perfect app to slowly ramp up to where I want to be. Great that the voice notifications to switch between walk and jog run in backgeound.

  • April 16, 2016

Great app, helps you get motivated I love that its not only encouraging but helpful as well. Easy to get started and easy to keep up, especially if you are a new Runner like myself.

  • March 25, 2016

Great This app makes it easy to get into running and I like that I can switch trainers. Sometimes I feel like I need a trainer to yell at me, sometimes i need a goofy one. Anyways the only thing I'd improve on is to not have the music function only accessible though music on your phone. If i could play Spotify on it, it would literally be the perfect running app.

  • April 23, 2016

Of only I could give 6 stars... I started literally with no running experience, and I never went for walks either. But this is a no brainer. Tells you when to walk and when to jog, I picked the zombie voice and it makes me giggle with its quips. I'm two weeks in and I breathe easier already, and my moods have improved, I put on my music or audio books and before I know it, the time's up. I'm not so focused on the time since it counts for me. Worth every penny and so easy to use!

  • March 7, 2016

Never run before...perfect introduction Really manageable and motivating. Absolutely recommend

  • March 14, 2016

Wow! I weigh 290 and I am desperately trying something new. My wife and I just successfully completed week 1 with no cheating! It was not easy, but doable. I'm freaked out about next weeks regiment, but I'm confident we will have the strength and courage to complete the three exercises with the assistance of the coach! Thanks couch to 5k!

  • April 2, 2016

Im taking it a bit slower then the app suggests. Normally repeating the last run of the week one more time before starting the new weeks routine. I am very happy I can repeat and it logs it all. The different trainers are a nice gimmick. Built in music player is great. I just put on the earphones, start it up and go. Im not looking at my phone or watch or anything. Just following the prompts to jog or walk, working on my breathing and listening to my tunes. UPDATE: I COMPLETED THE PROGRAM! Thank you ACTIVE! I also ran my first 5K race on Sunday. My advice.. DO IT!! Just do it at your pace. Don't worry about redoing the workouts and also, don't get discouraged around week 7. If you need to keep the walk breaks, keep them. Just get the kms in.

  • April 13, 2016

I really like the app. Only thing which is bothering the gps. Doesn't track right at all.

  • April 9, 2016

Love this app So easy to use, straight forward instructions, great looking app

  • April 16, 2016

Got me off the couch Only started but never thought I could run as far as I can now. Great motivator! Definitely recommend!

  • March 12, 2016

Awesome. Takes you slowly up. Didn't think I could ever be a runner, but now I'm hooked. Hope they have an app for after the 5k!

  • May 5, 2016

Good if you like peace running I hate the thought of running in a group, talking and listening to music. Alone in woods with dog and phone tucked away in pocket.

  • July 13, 2016

Great for wimps like me. I'm someone with a healthy weight, but I wanted a routine to get me out of the house and moving. This app starts your exercise pretty easy and gives more of a challenge as the week go on. I've been able to keep up pretty well (I do have to take a 30 second breather sometimes). The routine is 30 minutes long so even if you're a busy person you should be able to squeeze this in! Also as a tip, get some actual running shoes! I started with normal sneakers and my knees were killing me!

  • May 31, 2016

Never knew I had it in me This program brought out something in me that I never knew was there. Extremely happy!

  • July 5, 2016

My lifesaver! This app is awesome! I haven't been able to improve in running on my own, the second I started using this app I'm improving daily! Flexible and user friendly- its perfect.

  • July 6, 2016

Had some issues Good app. The minutes running jump quickly, it'd be nice if they increased in smaller intervals. Big problem though when there must've been an update about 1.5 months ago, suddenly my user name changed and my community connections disappeared. We all thought the ones had quit the program.

  • June 6, 2016

So far, so aiight Not bad, I am feelin' this kicks my ars...softly! :)

  • June 11, 2016

Brilliant I've tried jogging, and i used to go for 30 seconds and be totally out of breath and tired... someone suggested this app to me and now I can jog for 3 minuets fairly easily and i only just started week three. So in 7 sessions its got me running 3 minuets and my heart rate goes down fast too... so happy, i am finally starting to get my body in to shape. Oh and apparently if you wanna increase your speed to a run then you finish the 9 weeks and go back to week one and run faster and build up again.

  • July 13, 2016

I hate hate hate running Andd this has been the perfect app to make it almost enjoyable! Most running apps i have used int the past will start easy and then get to a level i just cant meet. This has not been the case with this app! This is my third time running the program to increase my speed, and it really is as effective as you make it!

  • July 4, 2016

Really helps get the legs moving! I find this app helps me stay motivated to reach my training goals. Originally purchased the iPhone version which I was happy using but when I moved to an Android phone I didn't want to buy it again - why can't we transfer to a new phone version without paying a 2nd time?). Anyway tried various free apps out and found they were either inaccurate with distance, didn't have as good graphics or voice prompts. So I've coughed up for a 2nd time - I would have rated this app 5 stars otherwise.

  • May 27, 2016

I wouldn't have believed it if I wasn't ACTUALLY the one doing it! I've gone from not being able to run for 30 seconds - to running for 25 minutes non-stop (I'm part-way through week 7 now)! I DID find it hard to get through weeks 3 and 4; I repeated week 3 THREE times and week 4 twice (plus I had to deal with a hip injury which prevented me from working out for 3 weeks!!!) but once I FINALLY felt confident enough to move on to week 5, there has been no stopping me! The fact that I can have my OWN playlist to jog along to is the single biggest 'plus' for me...... I was able to choose songs that I (a) LIKED and (b) felt would keep me 'moving' - and these are automatically used by the app. throughout the workout. I thoroughly recommend this app if you are able to self-motivate yourself to keep going from day to day. MY take on it was, I did NOTHING before I started doing this - so ANY time/distance I run is a bonus - AND it's doing me good! Be prepared to feel pleased with yourself for making small strides - because EVERY journey begins with the first step; every step thereafter is positive!!! Good luck!!!

  • June 5, 2016

Great way to start! Program is very easy to follow and helps prepare your body for longer intervals as you progress. It's also a great way to motivate yourself to do better than your best. Much better than any free app that I've tried. What I enjoy most about this app is when the trainer tells you when to start jogging and when to walk. Could never get my intervals right.

  • June 28, 2016

Easy to use Really easy to use and a great intro to running for me. I'm not a runner and have always struggled. This challenges me without overdoing it. I also love that it talks to you over your own music and logs your route!

  • June 7, 2016

GPS miles not recorded The GPS doesn't accurately record my miles. I have a Samsung Galaxy s6. I walk/jog to park and back home. It only records first part to the park and then nothing else. Shows I only have like .30 total for half hour. So frustrating!

  • June 8, 2016

Best app on the market This app is worth every penny and more. I have nothing but the best things to say about how well it tailors a routine perfect for getting in shape. I have terrible asthma and have never been able to run. This has been my answer! Thank you over and over! I have turned at least 5 people onto it and they all love it as well!!!!

  • June 30, 2016

Zombie 4ever He's the only guy who gets me off my butt. Also love making my own playlists and not being forced to share my progress. Great program. Excellent app.

  • July 14, 2016

This app does what it says it's going to do So far so good. No complaints. I'm on day 3

  • July 1, 2016

Love It! I love this app because it's not extremely difficult but I definitely feel the workout. I also love hearing in my headphones when to run and walk. I can listen to music while using it as well.

  • June 4, 2016

It really works I'm a beginner runner that literally was going from couch to 5k. Today I ran 20 min straight for the first time in my life thanks to this app. You'll see your improvement as you move along and it feels awesome

  • June 12, 2016

Amazing App! I was totally "couch" when I started, but I'm halfway done and I'm amazed at my progress, and I owe it all to this app!!

  • June 28, 2016

Great program but I wish it had Apple music support as well as Spotify and Google Music, is this being worked on?

  • June 1, 2016

Great for even the unfit! Easy to use and follow, it's early days for me but I think this app is great ?

  • June 16, 2016

Great app, it keeps me going. Can we have a normal male trainer though?

  • June 25, 2016

It's working! I haven't run in years, and then my son challenged me to run a Warrior Dash. This is just the tool I need to get going. Week 3 Day 1, and I'm still alive. ?

  • June 14, 2016

Great for getting back to running! Excellent app to use if you haven't been actively running in a long time. Helps you get back to it a little each day. As we age our bodies can revolt against us when we try to exercise. Then when we start hurting we stop exercising. Face it..who wants to be in unnecessary pain. This app moves at a rather slow pace to get you back to running.

  • June 17, 2016

Works! Love the pace, plus works with my other apps and Bluetooth simultaneously.

  • June 15, 2016

Best ever On my 3rd day and I love it. Very useful, encouraging and worth every cent!!

  • June 24, 2016

Great helper for beginners Getting ready for my first 5k and this app Nice. Walk run cadence gets you started at Three days a week. coach cheers you on. Keep moving & don't stop. Current problem unable to update/edit profile.

  • June 24, 2016

Amazing virtual trainer...looking to lose weight or just keep in shape? This is where to start

  • June 3, 2016

Great running app. It's like having my own personal trainer running with me.

  • June 11, 2016

Great app You can always add cool things but this pretty much has it all pretty nice app I like it.

  • May 21, 2016

Loving this app This app is perfect to help you motivate yourself to get up and get active. If you're serious about getting up and getting moving then this will help you.

  • June 20, 2016

Gettin my fat butt running again! Friendly app. It allows you to go at your pace and go back if you need to repeat a workout.

  • June 29, 2016

GPS Stopped Working 6.22.16 - giving it another shot! 2015 - All of a sudden my app stopped tracking via GPS! :(

  • June 22, 2016

Awesome workout app Has everything you need to get you off the couch and healthy!

  • June 9, 2016

Excellent Keeps me motivated... helped a over weight outta shapped girl get in shape and RUN

  • July 8, 2016

Working quite well This app is working really well for me. I think it's a great way to build up slowly to a 5k and now I'm on week 7 with my first race scheduled in less than a month. A couple of small issues: sometimes the unicorn says "let's warm up with a light jog. Walk!" The first time I heard it I was confused, but I ignore it now. Two: today I had a 25min jog at a track, I counted 14 laps, which is almost 3.5 miles (assuming 400 meters per lap) but the app says I jogged for 2.7 miles. Slightly disappointing.

  • June 15, 2016

Nice and slow It starts off very slow and gradually builds. Anyone can do this!

  • July 3, 2016

Keeps me on track and accountable. I get 15 minutes from home and when it says half way, I turn around and I'm within 50 feet of my front door. Love it

  • June 4, 2016

Special K? Wtf Pretty annoyed that a paid for app is full of advertising for a substandard breakfast cereal.

  • July 13, 2016

Amazing program I had this app on iOS a ways back, and this program helped me realize my dream of becoming fit enough to join the military. Thank you!!! I recommend this app to everyone I know with cardio fitness goals.

  • May 29, 2016

Does exactly what it says I'm satisfied with the app and the price. I just finished my 3rd workout, and I feel great. It's a bit of a slow start but it's perfect because that's how it's advertised -couch to 5k. It tells me when to do what without me having to look at a stopwatch all the time. Other people who gave it less than 5 stars because it "doesn't play their playlist longer" forgot what it's for. I will definitely recommend it to anyone.

  • Aug. 24, 2016

Brilliant Fantastic app. It's perfect for beginners like i was. Can now run a solid 30 mins without rest. My best advise is invest in good running shoes and ladies, get yourself a good bra. I ran in some cheap trainer i got off ebay and my knees and ankles killed... have lost a ton of weight and am so so so happy about the whole experience. Definitely recommend

  • Aug. 24, 2016

Works for me Before this I could barely run 100 yards without being winded and ready to quit. App works great on my phone. As of today, day 2 week six I just jogged a little over a mile in ten minutes. Have already recommended this app to people I have heard wanting to get in better shape. Thanks for the help.

  • June 29, 2016

Like the app 1 major complaint So i just started week 3. So far great app. My only issue is it stops recording right when the 5 minute cool down ends. There is no way to accurately judge the time/route. So i end up down the street sometimes and the app is done tracking and playing music.

  • Aug. 10, 2016

Just ok Works fine as fars as the ques and when to run/walk. But unless Im missing somerhing.....wish it gave updates for each segment so you know if you need to pick it up on the next run segment or if you are where you want to be. I like that you can see your friends but Ill stick with Run Double for the stats on each segment.

  • Sept. 7, 2016

Better location, worse playback I used this app last year, an older version. This version is doing a much better job tracking where I run, so I love that. But I hate that when your run is over the music stops. In the old app the music we keep playing, which is a good thing because I usually wasn't done and back to my starting point at the end of the time. I would love it if they would bring back the feature that lets the music keep playing.

  • Aug. 11, 2016

Helpful app The cues are great and I can play spotify while using this app at the same time. I've just finishef the 3rd day of week one and ut has been fun so far. It felt like someone was accompanying me and cheering me on as I go.

  • Sept. 19, 2016

It works I tried another 5k app where undead creatures chase you, it kept crashing mid run and losing my runs. This one just works, it's great. I'm on week 6 of 9 and already hitting 4 6k.

  • June 20, 2016

Easy to use It's very easy to use and has helped my son and I get started. Things I would like to see: Facebook integration (no one I know is on the thing you guys have) and an audio timer so you hear a count down in your ear buds. That way I could leave my phone in my pocket instead of having to hold it while running.

  • July 3, 2016

Effective So far it's working. More than halfway through the program and I feel confident that I'll have a solid showing at my first 5K later this month. My only complaint is that I transferred devices recently and not all of my workouts came with me. It's nitpicky but I wish I could've brought over my personal bests so far.

  • Aug. 29, 2016

Amazing This app does what it says. 2 and a half months ago I was a couch potato. And today I ran my first 5k race!! No stopping, no catching my breath... I just did it!! It's all thanks to this app. I really recommend getting it!

  • Aug. 21, 2016

Exactly what I needed!!! I have just crushed week 6 and on to no more walking intervals. This app does exactly what it says gets you from the couch to running 5k. The app has all of the runs figured out for you all you have to do is put your headphones on and follow the prompts.

  • Sept. 18, 2016

I am now a runner, apparently Like most of the other reviewers, I was a couch potato. It took me nearly 12 weeks to finish due to work, holidays etc. This week I have run 5k 3 times. All under 32 minutes. Next week I'm starting 10k training. It really works if you put the effort in.

  • Aug. 31, 2016

Greatly programme, average app This run/walk programme has been amazing for me and I've had great results but the app is pretty rubbish. I've got literally no idea how it calculates your average run speed but it doesn't involve the time mandated by that session and the distance you covered!

  • Sept. 21, 2016

Great way to get started. The gradual buildup is perfect for those looking to start running. I am finishing up week 6 right now and I honestly don't think I would have stuck with it without being "guided" through by this app.

  • Aug. 24, 2016

Easy peasy I have never run long distance in my life because I hate running, but this application has made it possible to conquer something I have loathed for a long time.

  • July 30, 2016

ATTENTION: Paid App WITH ads!!!! This WAS a phenomenal app! But when people pay their hard earned money for an app, there is an expectation that they will not be bombarded with advertising. With the new update, you're advertising unhealthy, overprocessed Special K!!! Their logo annoyingly laced throughout the app's interface. So disappointed! Luckily, I'm on the last day of the last week of the program. I was planning on purchasing your 10k app, but you lost a customer by pulling this BS, so that won't be happening. Good riddance!

  • Sept. 3, 2016

Almost perfect This is nearly a perfect app. The only thing I wish was in the app bedsides blog posts and articles would be suggested workouts to do in between the days. Add something like that, 5-stars.

  • July 5, 2016

This C25K app is awesome...tried them all Lobe the interface, love Constance's voice, and love that I can jump backward or forward on a run segment. Would improve only by saying which run segment you're on (i.e., "run 3 of 4" ), and interfering with Spotify.

  • Sept. 18, 2016

Perfect running app, still has ads This app tells you exactly when you start, how fast to go, when to stop, and when you're halfway! This had everything a paid running app should have, and one thing it shouldn't. Come on, Active, we already bought the app.

  • Aug. 1, 2016

Bought the app last year, but now it is absolutely filled with ads. Ridiculous. I paid for an ad free app, and then got screwed. Never again.

  • June 9, 2016

So far so good! Only completed day 3 so far but it's great so far!!!! Only problem is that I can't update my profile. Have tried every day and it keeps saying there is a problem and to try again.

  • July 28, 2016

Long Time Lover I've had this app for over 3 years and I absolutely love it. It helped me get in shape years ago and am looking forward to getting in shape with it again. I went from .5 miles, winded and miserable, to 4 miles and loving to run. I did use it on-road instead of on a treadmill, which was preferable for me. The zombie is what won me over initially. He's funny. One thing with this app is you have to use the music on your phone, which is frustrating when you're used to a streaming service. Overall, worth it!

  • Aug. 4, 2016

I'm a Convert I despised running and feeling my body jiggle. The anticipation of a personal trainer in my head (ear) makes me forget (in a strange way) that it is work. I love the idea that I can get from Couch to 5K. So excited. Thank you.

  • Aug. 24, 2016

Workout #1 completed. Felt tired, feel great now! Well you technically don't need this app to get off your butt and jog outside. But it has a GPS tracker of your route, a beginner to intermediate routine, how fast you jogged/walked, has a virtual motivational coach, and tells you about nearby 5k events. Really great tool for a measly $2. P.S. Try some weight lifting right after jogging. You'll feel euphoric!

  • Aug. 7, 2016

Changed my life My mother and I have been using this app. We have never felt better. And who doesn't love a zombie chasing them!

  • Aug. 8, 2016

Yes! This was an amazing app. It helped me keep running and not give up! It kept me running without getting too exhausted or give up. I love it. And I'm no runner nor am I in shape. It's really a great app.

  • May 26, 2016

Easy to Use This app helped me run the beginning of many races. If you are looking to start running, this is a must have! You will love it just like me!

  • Aug. 1, 2016

Excellent app This app keeps me motivated and running. I am not a runner and decided to start supplementing my yoga with it. I am very capable of 30min a day 3 days a week. Yes you can!
