Can't log in used to be a great app but it will no longer let me log in! I have contacted hsbc support who were no help what so ever. so looking like I will have to uninstall and go back to using my laptop for my banking ??

UX Issues! If you paste the phone number into PAYM then it doesn't enable the "continue" button to finish the payment, you have to delete a digit and type it back to get it to unlock(!!) It's not clear where to press to make changes to amounts etc because of font choice and design issues

Took a long time, but finally a pretty good app from HSBC. I'd like to see the ability to add new people to transfer money to as a feature in the app, instead of having to log onto the website. And notifications for when someone transfers money into my account, notifications for when I go overdrawn or when my balance reaches a certain amount.

Absolute Rubbish since digital secure key HSBCs mobile ap is seriously frustrating. I was fine with the old secure key.. Since updating to the digital version I've had NO END of issues.

Very useful but poor interface It is great to be able to log in without a huge faff and check my accounts. However, it isn't easy to switch between screens and to do anything like move money between accounts you have to switch to the main website. If you forget to log out of the app, you have to go into settings and force stop it otherwise you can't get past the screen which tells you that it has timed out.

Intrusive Why does the latest update need access to identity, phone, contacts, location, camera, WiFi, storage, remote call info etc etc...? This is just a banking app, not my minder. Not installing until the developers work out what the users need.

Hsbc Well finally you seem to have fixed the log in! Only took you how long? Now why can't the balance I see be my real balance? Why do I have to go through two more pages through find cleared balance. When the money is taken through transactions, remove it from my balance or show that on another page really annoying.

After already registering it couldn't remember my banking I.d. It kept logging me into the website instead of the app, I set up the password but it still insisted on me going through my security questions. Now it's saying my details are wrong but I can log onto the website with the same details absolutely fine. Complete waste of time. Uninstalling.

Great app It's a great app and certainly helps managing my money a lot easier. However, it would benefit by having the ability to do a payment to someone or set up a standing order. I still have to log onto my Internet banking if I wish to transfer money to someone which is a pain. Therefore only 4 stars till this feature becomes available.

App riddled with login issues Account always says inaccessible or ive been logged out for being inactive but this is the first 3 times I try to log in. After the 4th time it works as per usual

Pretty awful really. I have banking apps for four different banks and the other three are all much more intuitive to use than this one. Also the HSBC secure key system is a right faff. The Halifax and Natwest apps are so much better!

Data eater Quite slow reactions plus downloaded 10MB in 30 seconds just to find nearest branch opening hours. On the top of that it stores all downloaded data inside the app so after some time you can get nice growing bubble.

Absolutely Useless As some others I was happy with this app until I got a message saying I needed to update. I now cannot use, open or update so will uninstall. Irritating and really quite inexcusable for a massive profiteering corporation like HSBC.

Saves a lot of time! It's really handy for when you're out, need a quick balance check or transfer of funds. It isn't the best for paying bills, but there's minimal times I'm going to need to do that while out and about. It's definitely easier than the digital key which I've never been pleased or happy with.

Horrible I understand they want high security but this is ridiculous! I opted out of carrying around a security key and chose to choose the app. It never works and I am unable to transfer money as you require a security code from the app! I will be changing banks. After not only phoning 3 times and going into a branch the issue can still not be resolved! Pathetic

Cheap and lazy app design from a filthy rich and lazy bank When one of the largest (and richest) banks in the world can't be bothered to design an android-specific app, their app deserves the lowest rating. Horrible non-native user experience, slow and unintuitive menus, and a ridiculous setup process involving password after password. Why are there high reviews for this on the play store? Because most people are just relieved they can bank online. I think, as HSBC customers, we should expect WAY more than this paltry effort.

Basic functionality missing! Performance poor! HSBC has their priorities all wrong. Instead of offering basic functionality like being able to submit equity trades, perform external bank transfers or making the deposit check function work properly they instead focus on ridiculous security mechanisms that are completely self-defeating. I've been unable to submit checks for deposit. Every single time I get a message about being unable to read the routing/account numbers, yet other banking apps work fine. Oh, if you really want a nice feature, they do have a nice photo of Hong Kong when you start the app up. Sadly, I'm not interested in photos of their home city. If I wanted to see that I would use a travel app, not a banking app! Sarcasm aside, the app is difficult to navigate, offers minimal and disappointing features and the security required to even use it gets to the point that you want to do anything to avoid having to open it. For a multi-national financial institution that's one of the world's largest, one would think they would have the resources to actually hire some talented designers and coders. Perhaps they did, but their IT security desk held veto power and ended up creating something with minimal benefit.

Behind the Curve This app's functionality is finally meeting the most basic of expectations, but from a design perspective it's still a mess. It is slow, stutters, and it makes use of Android 2 widgets which makes it look and feel out of place on Android 4+ devices, especially with the Material Design becoming more commonplace. The Bank of Scotland app is leagues ahead of this. I'm almost tempted to close my accounts so I can use a banking app that genuinely makes banking less of a hassle.

Dangerous - do not use Used the app to send a payment to my friend and HSBC somehow managed to send it to a completely different account that was apparantely linked to my friends phone number. It will take weeks before I'll find out if they will be able to retrieve the money. An obvious fraud had happened and HSBC is not currently accepting responsibility or accountability for this error. Your money is not secure with this app, avoid it.

Excellent! This app (almost) has it all. One suggestion is for the next update to have "Pending Transactions" then I'll give it 5 stars. I love HSBC internet banking as their services are comprehensive what your able to do, totally secure - but yet easier to login than most other banks. Shame trying to bank with them is getting harder & harder... They've lost my mortgage, & lost a large loan as they weren't as helpful as they have been in previous years.

An App to die (of shame) for Crashes randomly. Nothing new in latedt release. A backward step. The usual me-too solid but basic features following the HSBC one size fits all approach, but it misses the mark on UX, and already feels dated. Looking forward to more... well, just more.

Great app For added security you should incorporate our smartkeys for login.. made a great gadget to stop internet crime and don't even have to use it..? When I enter my info 1st letter 2nd and last etc how many times does it take to login before your whole password/pin etc has logged..not that safe in my eyes..come on secure key is so secure.....EDIT,, NOW USING SECURE KEY..WELL DONE TO ALL YOU AT HSBC..

Unavailable most of the time & no payments Useful for checking balance but doesn't work most of the time. Or you'll be able to log in but no accounts will show. Annoying there are so many issues but I guess they are trying to fix. Very disappointing not to be able to make manual payments to credit card account through the app. Seems to be a vital function for a mobile banking app.

Love but meh. Loving the app but i had this on my last phone and when id created my digital code thing it told me to go recycle my key! Then changed phones and wouldnt let me log in again and had to create a new code buy calling customer service which took me forever and cost me lots. Keeping my key nice and close now!

I have this app installed on my Nexus 7 and my HTC-One mobile phone The first thing I've noticed is the app seems to have different functionality- 1. I cant generate secure keys from my HTC 2. Doesn't support landscape display 3. Different Front pages 4. Can't cut-n-paste passwords from secure storage All-in-all annoying and unnecessary

Crap update! June 2015 update - "bug fixes minor enhancements" my ar$e! All you get is an ugly new start up picture and a permanent "apply for a loan" banner top/prominent on main screen that you can't remove. Would downgrade to previous version if it wasn't so much hassle.

Poor, no features, 5x behind the competition Comparing this app to many other retail banking apps it is very slow, not intuitive, and lacking features. The HSBC way of logging in is just... Stupid. Using the security key, password, and I'd takes too much energy and time. Customer support also doesn't know how to help you once you've been locked out. Prepare to spend hours talking to a handicapped customer service who likely may not be able to help u. Use caution when using certain features on their online banking. Ur acct may be locked.

Well it was okay But the latest update won't let me log in. I type in my username, click log on, and it says "incorrect username or password". I know my username is correct, and there's no space to put in a password, just a Remember Username checkbox.

Its a responsive site not an app This is not a fully functional app, its an app which loads a responsive website that serves like an app. Still good enough and does the job but im sure HSBC has couple of millions to invest on an app :) Or lets do crowdfunding for these guys :) Afterall its a world bank.

We'll thought out I don't understand some of the poor reviews this has received. I can only assume some people hadn't worked out how to use it when they left their review. I have six accts including mortgage and credit card. I can see the balances and transfer funds between very easily between each acct. I can make one-off payments or set up regular payments to others. This last feature requires me to set it up on a PC first but once this is done I manage all further payts through the app. I would recommend it to anyone.

Bad again This app was good, but now I can no longer log in with secure key, meaning I can't check fast balance and have to use the long winded secret answer and password, why can't you just allow Android users to log in with a simple 4 digit PIN or fingerprint like Touch ID on iPhone, Apple users aren't the only ones with fingerprint scanners on phones you know. This app is in serious need of an overhaul to be simplified, along with a UI refresh.

Shambolic This app cannot do a single useful function other than viewing your balance. There is absolutely no element of 'online banking' here and you can't even generate a secure key which will now require you to carry a device to use online banking. Absolutely lazy from HSBC who clearly have no regard for their customers.

Absolutely rubbish now When this app first came out of was brilliant. So much easier than that dumb keypad thing... But this last month it's been absolutely useless and never works. Constantly hangs or says sorry try again later.... Avoid this until it's fixed... If it is ever fixed.

Errors all the time If this app ever let me log in it would be wonderful. Every time I attempt to log in I get an error message. Sometimes, when something desperately needs doing ill attempt to log in up to ten times a day and will get an error every time. HSBC please a dress this issue, it's making your banking services more and more of a pain and I will move banks if I continue to be unable to use the most useful form of banking.

S**t app Spent too much time on phone trying to re activate this. It tried to update itself today and would not give me the option to postpone the update until I had transfered some money. It then failed and stopped working completely. As I needed to create a new payee I couldn't use the pc either. Very annoying for the payee who will now be overdrawn! Update: just wasted more time listening to music to no avail. Am reverting to the old physical key now. Don't waste your time with this rubbish.

So annoyed, completely blocked out Went to log on but said error can't access, so re installed app had to re log in but then told me to put digital secure code in, yet it's nowhere to be found on the app so now I'm completely blocked out of it! So annoyed with this rubbish, I preferred using my digital key pad but that doesn't even work now, upgrade, yeah right!!! Never had a problem until now

Terribly slow. Rarely works. Very disappointing. Have to wait for an in app update nearly everytime I use it. Takes an eternity to login and then usually fails with some vague unhelpful message. Making payments is hardwork. Sorry hsbc you can do better!

Ok but old-school The app provided very basic functionality and the look and feel is very old-school. For example it's not possible to make payment to an account which I did not pay to via Internet before. I wish that big bank like HSBC invested more into the functionality and design to be able to deliver the best user experience.

Worst mobile banking app... Don't have to mention that app is laggy even on latest flagship. But what is truly driving me nuts is that every time I update android or re-instal app (like I did today) becouse app got stuck for ages while updating I have to call customer service and ask them to activate digital security key again. It's like waste of time hanging on the phone for 20min waiting for customer service agent.. You should take a look on Barclays Mobile App and learn from this.

I can only agree with Sebastian Michalek and Jodie George. all the re-installing / updates for the app that results in me being blocked. This is truly making me frustrated and annoyed. EVERY time I update Android or re-install app this happens, every time spending 20 minutes or over on the phone with Customer Services and ask them to activate digital security key again. I've already booked appointment for opening new bank account with another bank.

Another person telling you it's broken App auto-updated in play store but when opening the app, the update doesn't get past 0%, tried disconnecting from WiFi, restarting phone etc, but still not working. Please get a fix out so I can see how much money I haven't got. Thanks EDIT2: 4 days on and I've had to get a new phone as my old phone went crazy... On my next restart after the update :curious:... But since my old phone cannot update any apps, I can't transfer my secure key over to my new phone either... Really not happy now...

Terrible app Took forever to get it to install and now that it has, half of the features don't even work. I dismiss a message and ask not to see it again and see it every time I use the app. fast balance just throws up an error message. Bad update EDIT: IF YOU HAVE A SCREEN DIMMING APP TURN IT OFF AND IT WORKS. Doesn't resolve the bad update but it's a small win I guess. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Doesn't respond to touch. I can't access my bank account as I'm using the app as code generator. I uninstalled it and installed- doesn't solve the problem. Please fix this as soon as possible! This is ridiculous, test your updates before releasing!!!

Update Issue Worked after turning off blue screen filter. --- "App not responding since last automatic update. Has not had access to my accounts on mobile and online due to code generator being part of mobile apps that stopped working after upgrade."

Doesn't respond to touch screen useless just tried it again and bizarrely it works now. I use the app as my secure key so now I can't pay anyone new!! Had enough Finally had enough of this rubbish. Honestly, just find an ATM. The worst is that it doesn't automatically update, you open it and you aren't allowed to do anything until you install the update that can be 1,2,3mb. So to check my balance I need to find a WiFi. Well done hsbc. When you changed it it became clunky, slow, and amazingly annoying.

Needs fixing now Latest update has completely broken the app. As I use my phone as secure key I now cannot do any internet banking which is the sole way I bank normally. Fix needed ASAP this is a fundamental part of how people use their money and is unacceptable.

Getting there Everything is now comin together very nicely. No lags or blank screen whilst logging in. Would be 5 stars if you can add payees rather than going online to do it. Also, fingerprint login wouldn't be too bad!?! Nevertheless, keep up the good work.

Really nice. But needs a cleaner look. The app is great and works really well, but it needs a much cleaner look like the new versions of android. Could you also add the feature to view direct debits and standing orders etc. it helps to know these things sometimes. Could you also add fingerprint recognition for easy access and enable the users to add a second layer of security like a 4 digit pin code? It will be really helpful. Thankyou :)

Please Read... If ur having problems accessing ur account ie...when u touch the screen buttons nothing happens then try turning ur screen dimmer app off if u have one installed...this should fix the problem. This has only become a problem to me since my phone did a total reboot.

Works but too slow and outdated interface Can do basic things in this app but the interface is very rough, slow and non intuitive to navigate. HSBC should take some cues from the Nationwide and Natwest apps which are much more smooth!

Annoying forced updates Each time I open the app, it checks for updates and updates are mandatory before I can use the banking functions. It is annoying and inconvenient if I'm in area with no wifi coverage, which is usually the case when I want to use mobile payment. Mission impossible An OK app especially now I can view balance without logging in. HSBC security is probably greater than fort knox which sometimes is annoying. A password or pin should be sufficient, over complicate by generating security codes even if for right reason. Still baffles me no button to order a new card.

Failure! This app was great until a recent update. I lost the 'generate secure code' button so can't use it to get on the Web. Can only make payments to ones previously paid to via Web. Ringing up for a reset takes forever and I find the HSBC rep is quite impatient in talking you through steps to reinstate the secure key! Useless.

Big Improvement! I first used this app about 6 months after it came out, and have to say, it was an abysmal experience. It was actually more convenient to use the web browser on a phone to access the online banking! As of 21/09/2016; I can say that the app's general flow and functionality is very much improved, and I feel it's now slightly more convenient than logging in on a desktop...and one can use paym/pingit functionality now too. Thank-you for improving this, guys.

Could learn a lot from Westpac banking app. It's not horrible. It's very secure. Its got potential. I'd love to see a "quick balance" option, similar to the Westpac app. I would say 90% of the time I use the app is to just see how much money I have. So maybe check out the Westpac app for that. It's one 4 digit pin and it shows you your balance. No details from the account itself just the balance. But, this app is very secure with all the hoops you have to jump through to get in. So I guess thats a good thing.

Quite limited The app is still useful if you need to check your balance and transfer money between your accounts however the website and this app relies on you to use a security key if you plan to do more and the app doesn't give you the option to generate one and just send you through a loop. I used to have no problem generating the secure code but the update has made this impossible.

When I press back, i want out of the app. 2. I have two accounts. When I expand one of them and I go into their details, then when I click back, please don't close the expansion. The worst mobile banking app I've used so far From a company which is definitely in need of improvement, their app doesn't change opinions. The app doesn't show all of my accounts. The available balance doesn't take into account any pending transactions. So for instance I have £10 in my account, spend £5, other banking apps will show current balance of £10, available balance £5 until the payment makes it's way through the system. Also the flashy background isn't needed, it just slows it down. Build an app that works, and is functional, needs help.

App not fit for purpose. So you try and do an online payment and the website tells you to generate a security code via this app. Open the app, and oh dear there is no button to generate a security code. It appears to have been removed during recent update. So you have to call HSBC for them to issue a code. And this is online banking? I'm doing what I had to do 20 years ago to make a payment.

Don't know about the app as never had chance to try it Due to deciding against joining HSBC. I had an appt I couldn't make. Took me 45 minutes to get through to someone to tell them, then 20 minutes on the phone with an African, who couldn't find anything, when it would have taken 30 seconds if I could have rung the actual branch. Can't change between countries I have held a HSBC account in the UK for many years and have used this app while in Australia for a long time. I have just set up an Australian account with HSBC and when I try to go between countries to login to my different accounts using the app although it shows I have selected UK it will not let me login as it is still in the Australian one. I can tell this because when I click on website it still links to the Australian site where as before it would link to the UK one. Doesn't work for 2 countries.

You guys have a bug. When I enter my digital secure key I get an error saying one of the fields is incorrect. Yet I can use the same digital secure key to generate a code and log in to the website. This has happened several times so it wasn't just a typo. I uninstalled and reinstalled to fix and I'm now unable to generate a new digital secure key. Look into your user experience. This is terrible and frustrating. I now have to call online banking to get one...
